Lecture: "The Clash of Orthodoxies" by Dr. Robert George

August 19, 2010

On Wednesday, August 25th, at 7:00 PM, Robert P. George, Ph.D., will be delivering a lecture, "The Clash of Orthodoxies," in the conference center of the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, California. The talk is the eighth in a series inspired by the Manhattan Declaration and dedicated to addressing issues of faith in the public square. These talks, grouped under the common title of the Manhattan Forum and delivered every month since January of this year, are sponsored by the St. Anthony of Padua Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Catholic higher education in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The culmination of the Manhattan Forum will be a day-long conference at St. Isidore's Parish in Danville, California, on Saturday, September 18th. The speakers will be Thomas J. Curry, Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles; Francis Beckwith, Ph.D., Professor of Philosophy and Church-State Studies at Baylor University; Jennifer Morse, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow in Economics at the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty; and Allen H. Vigneron, Archbishop of Detroit. Sign-in opens at 8:00 AM, with Mass at 8:30 AM; lectures will be at 10:00 AM (Curry), 11:30 AM (Beckwith), 2:00 PM (Morse), and 3:30 PM (Vigneron), with lunch provided at 1:00 PM.

Admission to "The Clash of Orthodoxies" is $50, which includes free admission to the conference. Admission to the conference by itself is $35. More information about these events, as well as registration forms, can be found at www.sapi.org/mforum.
