The Susan B. Komen Foundation has taken
a bold step and decided to cut funding to Planned Parenthood. The
recent investigations done on Planned Parenthood's involvement in the
abortion business has caused Komen to halt grants given to the
organization. This is reason for pro-lifers to celebrate.
Komen has always been a huge donor to
Planned Parenthood until now. LifeNews reports, Figures
from August
directly
from the Komen for the Cure foundation show 18 affiliates of the
breast cancer charity gave a total of more than $569,000 to the
Planned Parenthood abortion business in 2010. That was down from the
$731,303 Komen officials publicly confirmed in October 2010, when
they acknowledged that 20 of the 122 Komen affiliates gave to Planned
Parenthood during the 2009 fiscal year.
As a result of this decision by Komen,
Planned Parenthood is directing blame toward pro-life groups.
Thousands in support of Planned Parenthood are now writing hateful
e-mails to Komen because of their decision. Planned Parenthood is
also asking for “emergency donations” to replace the funds that
had previously come from the breast cancer charity.
After Komen made the announcement to
cut funding they have come under major attack from the left. Many
pro-lifers have wanted Komen to make this decision for a long time,
and now that they have we must thank them for doing so. It is
important for Komen to know that they have support for doing the
right thing.
The Manhattan Declaration team is
asking that TODAY you e-mail your “Thank You” to Komen for the
Cure foundation at news@Komen.org with the subject line "Thank
You Komen". Please encourage those you know to join you in
emailing as well. They need to hear our support.
