Champion the Vote

The goal of the Manhattan Declaration is to unite people who want to take a stand for the Sanctity of Life, Traditional Marriage, and Religious Freedom. What better way to “take a stand” than to vote this year for a presidential candidate who upholds your values?

We are teaming with United in Purpose to promote their grassroots campaign “Champion the Vote”. The mission of this campaign is to get unregistered Christians registered to vote. It is estimated that of the 60 million Christians in America, only 30 million of them vote in a given election or are even registered to vote.

United in Purpose sees this campaign as vital to the upcoming election, “In a democracy, it is the responsibility of the people to engage in the political process by voting. Voters shape the future of a nation. We believe it is our privilege and our duty to vote and that every vote counts.”

The strategy of the campaign is simple. It is Christians talking to Christians and encouraging them to register and vote. An “army of champions” spreading he word is what it will take as little as one hour a week to make a difference in this election.

We are asking you, signers of the Manhattan Declaration, to take the time and share this campaign with those you know. If you haven't already, register to vote now and then encourage others to do so as well. You can also register by clicking the button to the left of this post.

Let's work together to increase the representation of Christians at the polls this year and then vote people into office according to the values we share.

I agree that we need an increase in the representation of Christians at the polls (and definitely in government), and I strongly support faithfulness to a commitment, whether that be to one partner in marriage, to one's priestly or religious vowed commitment, or to one's baptismal commitment made by one's parents or godparents in one's name.
However, the measure of one's Christianity or godliness must go far beyond inflammatory rhetoric and one vote at election time.   Sanctity of life must include life from womb to tomb, not only birth, but also affordable child care, quality education on all levels, anti-poverty efforts, education about sexual actions and consequences, pre-natal and post-natal care, quality affordable health care for all, non-violence education, anti-trafficking and anti-prostitution efforts, quality dignified care for seniors.
If traditional marriage is defined as between one man and one woman, then there must be a commitment never to divorce and never to engage in extra-marital affiars or even one-night stands or quickies over lunch hour.
If religious freedom is truly freedom for all religions, and not just "Christian" traditions, then we must also honor the beliefs of Jews and Muslims and Hindus and many other Eastern rites.

WE Do NOT have a democracy!! America is a Republic!! If we can keep it!! for which it stands! ONE NATION UNDER GOD!!  we will however lose to democracy! If the Fundamental Christian Culture does not rise and take action, and do something for their NATION! God has set these leaders in high places, but we have also chosen to be ignorant of our rights to make our voice heard!! If Christians did what God told them to do, and be responsible for their children's  future and approve the Leader most like the character of God! We wouldn't be in this mess!

I concur completely with this message as a whole, no one has the right to strip us of our religious liberty, right to live, morality as a whole.  Freedom is being stripped away from us at every turn!  When will we get back to the grounds & belief our forefathers shed their blood for; when will we again become the nation that made us so great?!  Today God is being removed from everything, currency, songs, classrooms, monumental buildings and displays, Holidays...when and where does it stop?  Will we too become yet another country that will be content to simply live for today and leave tomorrow for someone else to clean up?  What about our children, families, neighbors?  Are we just too afraid to stand out and heard or afraid?
